Dating: 5th-4th centuries BC

Characteristics: A unique circuit of polygonal walls which encloses the modern city in the middle of a lagoon. Numerous stretches of polygonal masonry can still be seen peaking out from modern constructions on the waterfront. A particular stretch of polygonal masonry exposed to the lagoon extends 4 meters below the surface.

Attribution: The original polygonal masonry exposed to the lagoon is attributed to the Etruscans before later Roman intervention
