BOVILLE ERNICA (FICO)

Location: Boville Ernica, Lazio (Italy) — 41.6308 N, 13.4858 E

Dating: 8th–5th centuries BC

Characteristics: The Monte Fico polygonal wall stretches for approximately 70 meters and sits on slope overlooking a panoramic view of the valleys below. The wall is understood to have been part of a system which enclosed an early hilltop settlement; however, the remaining walls no longer exist or have not been located. The wall currently forms the retaining wall of a private residence.

Attribution: The site is attributed pre-Roman Italic populations of the Latium region, likely associated with the Volsci or Hernici.
